In October 1990 the NZ Fishing Industry complained to the Broadcasting Standards Authority regarding the negative portrayal of their activities in a TVNZ Frontline documentary. The documentary looked into fur seal bycatch and orange roughy overfishing.
In May 1991 the BSA issued its decision – the complaint was not upheld. Decision dated 14 May 1991.
